Dreaming dreams & Seeing visions

(khotbah Harliem-GKDI, 11 Jan 2009)

Prov 29:18 where there’s no vision the people will perish

Hellen Keller was asked once “what would be worse than being born blind?” to which she replied “having sight without a vision”

What a profound statement by a girl who was born into this world deaf, dumb, and blind. She couldn’t help how she came into this world but she sure could help how she left this world.

1. A VISION IS THE ABILITY TO SEE WHAT OTHERS CAN’T SEE

How is your Spiritual Vision today? Are you seeing clearly? Do you look at circumstance and not beyond?

2. A VISION IS FAITH TO BELIEVE WHAT OTHERS WILL NOT

Rom 4:18-26 God help us to have enough faith in God to believe

There are a lot of factors that influence our service for God which we have no control over-your background, your age, your giftedness, but there is one important factor that we do have control over; How much we choose to believe God.

Ask your self :

Why have I settled for little dreams when I serve a big God?

Why am I content to just ask God for the things that seem possible?

Why not ask God for the impossible?

Why settle for just a taste of God when we can have the entire seven course meal?

Go to a BIG GOD with big dream and watch Him bring it to pass. Ask a BIG GOD for the Hard Things!

Martin Luther dared to dream of a church where the grace of Jesus Christ could be preached freely, and common people could hear and understand the message of Bible. Before he died, millions of people were able to have Bible in their own language, to read and study it for themselves.

Alexander Campbell & Barton W. Stone & Raccoon John Smith, dared to dream of a church where there would be no denominational walls, no denominational names or creeds or organizations to separate us from each other, where we could all just be “Christian”.

3. A VISION IS COURAGE TO DO WHAT OTHERS SAY CAN’T BE DONE

Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me

Faith includes Action. Courage doesn’t mean no fear, but is GOING FORWARD in spite of fear. Our problem is that too often we want to live in our comfort zone. What if these so bible heroes did not want to move beyond their comfort zone? Moses, David…
